Internet Tabs!

I've read on an ENTP forum that users will usually have a lot of tabs open on their browsers ... To quantify: ~10+ tabs ... So, I was wondering if you guys ran into this also with having a lot of tabs open with different sites and subjects on them. Is this normal?

And to put this into context, I will usually have an average of 15 tabs open in one sitting where I'm just browsing blogs and other interests just to be informed about what's new for the day. Usually it ends up with me being distracted and looking up other things that were of interest to me.

I said 6-10. I tend to try to keep things clean

Average of 5 - 6 windows, with total average of 110 - 235 tabs.


Any more and the memory gets screwed up ( I'm temporarily down to only 2 GB ).

i usually just bookmark them and forget to go back. I prefer to keep my browser clutter free, so i'll say usually 5 or 6 tabs open and a bajillion bookmarks

i usually have about 30 or so tabs open in a single firefox window


when it becomes too much to comfortably go through one end to another i just open another firefox window


though usually i dont keep more than 3 windows, if i decide to get another one i close one of the others

Why is this under Science & Technology!? Just thinking about it, I think it could be labeled under Psychology because I was actually looking for user behaviours and why some of us often have a million tabs open when we're on the internet.

Anything to do with computer usage, which includes browsers, goes into S&T. One might even discover new tips for better care and grooming of that peerless Pegasus of the Internet: Firefox the Golden !

For instance, I use Stylish with a downloaded script to centre pictures which are solely in a tab ( as in http//xyz.jpg ); for some reason if the cursor rests right of the image, the latter starts bouncing from left to right wildly. People looking at a thread on browsers may be able to explain this scientifically.



As to why some of us have more or less tabs than others, this has little to do with psychology: it is simply more convenient at the time for each individual based upon personal circumstance.


Like most motivations in life from feeding-decisions to genocide.

Usually have about 2-3 IE open and either full on tabs, or near full, which is about 15 to be full for IE which is lame IMO. Probably need to take the time to try out firefox, but IE works fine for me.

This thread reminds me of and saddens me by the fact that I can't have as many tabs as I used to due to a slowly dying laptop. I hate micromanaging my tabs.
