I actually asked my kids this exact question a couple nights ago. We were out late, hungry, and the only food source was a gas station convenience store. So I told them to go pick out 1 snacky thing each to tide them over till we got home.
My eldest went straight to the candy section and picked out a Snicker's bar. He always goes for the sugar, preferably chocolate, and is eternally pissed off that his favorite, Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, are very difficult to find in this country. Sugar, sugar, sugar.
His brother made a beeline to the potato chip section, where he selected a black bag of "diablo" Doritos. This kid always goes for the salt...preferably the spiciest, hottest, most absurdly over-flavored salt he can find. Salt, salt, salt.
Personally, I hate Doritos, because they smell like dirty feet to me, but I also go for the salt. I got a bag of (heavily) salted 'lemon flavored' peanuts. Damn, those fuckers were good! I especially enjoyed the last few that were sitting in 1/2 an inch of salt at the bottom of the bag. I know, conveniently packaged heart attack and all that, but man they were good.
So when it comes to pure crap food, what's your preference? Too much salt, or too much sugar?
