You've just had a stroke, and one of your cognitive functions has been suffered serious lesions. Use of that function has decreased 50-80%!

Pick which function you'd have get hit, and justify your answer.

(I'm not including extroversion or introversion in the options listed; we all know what ours are. In case there are any non-INTPs polling they'll feel comfortable. ;) )

Uh, how can i say which function would be damaged? There is no decision in that it just depends on the physical damage, no?

you mean, which one would we rather give up if we had the choice? i'd go with feeling. i do recognize its importance in human society, this isn't an emo "i hate having feelings and emotions" thing, but i think it would be the one i could survive the rest of my life without more then the other ones.

We pretending that you get the choice, through divine intervention. Or any kind of intervention you want.

Se. To be quite honest, it's such a weak function that losing 50% wouldn't make much of a difference. If I lost a majority of the Thinking or Intuition parts of me, the framework of my entire personality seems like it would crumble; I couldn't analyze anything and I'd become depressed. The depression would lower all the other functions, too. If I lost Feeling, I don't think I'd have any motivation to keep living. It's the fuel for my fire.

Dang, I've already voted feeling, but come to think of it, I'm not sure which would impact my appreciation of music more - that or sensing? I also enjoy the moments when that inferior function expresses itself.

Thinking,

Because if I though less than I'd be happier and because thinking is the function that would notice if another was absent.

I voted sensing, but I imagine I would be a lot happier if I lost a lot of the thinking function as well. I don't make much use of Se so I probably wouldn't sense its loss much. And though thinking runs my life, I sometimes would be happy to let my feeling take over. Then I would stop rationalizing myself out of everything, enjoy more spontaneity, connect with people on a much deeper level, feel some contrast in life, sounds good!

Tough. It’s a toss-up between thinking and sensing and I’d prolly pick thinking, NF’s are awesome and get by pretty well with a feeling preference, any imbalance would cause dramas and I'd rather get engrossed in Se/Si than over think.

Definitely not thinking. Perhaps sensing, or a combination of sensing and feeling.

Definitely wouldn't touch N or T. Tough choice between S and F. I'd choose F since it's already small and as said above, a 50% reduction wouldn't have much impact because it's so small.

I vote feeling because I could take over the world and become a ruthless dictator and not feel bad about it. This would also help me not feel bad about attending to my list of who will be the first against the wall when I do this.

Cognisant's choice is a good one I will consider that as a plan B if plan A goes horribly wrong.

My S is already a bit messed up, so it really only serves as a distraction to my strong Ne and Ni.

I would give up the Fe, but I'm pretty sure it's the only thing preventing my Ti from consuming itself

This is interesting. Some people would go specializing on their thinking and intuition while others would rather even them all out... I'm enjoying this :P

I'd personally give up my sensing, because I, like Cog, don't use it much. I'd be (wait, I AM) perfectly happy being fed information and chucking out solutions (I play psychologist for my group of friends often). I also thrive and pride myself highly on my thinking/intuition abilities; if I gave that up, I'd have no confidence in myself and become incredibly depressed.

Amen, Bahamut, on that last part. My F keeps my T in check. Plus, it's good to know I'm still a human being sometimes.

Yes. What do you do about it?

If you go to a hospital, turn to page 49.
If you begin headbanging, turn to page 666.

This is a horrible question. I'm taking far too much time thinking about what it would mean to have one of those four gone.

Yikes.
