I am posting this because of how much it excited me.

Today I discovered the climbing wall at my university in our wellness center thingie.

That wall is the most amazing and fun thing I have ever experienced in a while. Climbing to the top is extremely exhausting, but it is so fun!

Has anyone else ever had fun on these things like I have?

I am probably going to frequent that wall and climb it daily.

th
wall climbing? is it one of those fake cliffs with fake rocks poking out of it?

I always wanted to do it but was too intimidated by everyone who were doing it at the time and just continued running until the gym membership ran out.

I have never tried a proper one or if I have it's been quite some time since. The times I've seen climbing walls there were usually plenty of people waiting in line to climb it, something that turns me off.
I do like to climb though. I have a thing for trees (not dendrophilia). I get to climb being completely alone (not with something strapped around myself with some guy below supervising the whole thing) and I get to sit on the very top (the higher the tree the better), enjoy a nice view and reflect on whatever I may fancy in that particular moment in time. I will probably try out a climbing wall again though, given the opportunity, even if I have to pull up with many people being around.

I did it, it was great fun, and I was doing really well until a professional came and showed me how it's supposed to be done. I kept falling after that :D

I prefer real rock, to tell you the truth, but most of us can't really go climb real rocks every day, so the gym thing is a pretty good substitute.

Have fun :)

I love rock climbing. I used to be alot more ballzy about when I was younger though. I still like to go into the woods and explore around and climb cliffs. I once got myself really scared becasue I thought I was stuck after climbing up about 35 feet. I ended up finding a rather dangerous way to climb the rest of the way up the cliff face. It was nice because the back side of the cliff was a hill so when I made it to the top I just had to walk down the back. I like the problem solving involved with climbing, realworld or man made. It takes physical strength and mental quickness.

My favorite part of climbing the wall is that I get to use both mental strength and physical strength. Currently I am using tactics, eventually those tactics will become strategies so I'll have to change up things.

With the physical part, apparently I have superhuman endurance, the people belaying me said that I could hold onto the wall longer than anyone they had ever seen, but personally I know it came at a price because it hurts and wears me down, I guess I am just driven to not let go haha.

It is all in the fingers, you can learn all kinds of endurance or tricks like dino-ing which I admit is wicked cool, but none of it matters unless your fingers are strong enough, and mine aren't. They said the tendons should strengthen soon, hopefully next week my hands won't be hurting this bad anymore.

Also the lines are almost none existent, I go in there and have friendly conversations and learn how to tie knots! I guess that is one point for me in the Leveling game thread :D.

I hate most physical activities, but I have always imagined climbing a wall, sort of a fantasy of being an adventurer. Now I get to have that fantasy fulfilled every day, climbing the easy side is well... to easy. So the past 2 days I've been struggling with the hard part, damn, I get about 3/4 up and have to jump since I am too short to reach the next part and fall. Which is also another thrill in itself, the falling. You take the risk, at that moment you forget there is a rope tied to you, and you suddenly snap back up. The thrill of being able to take a deathly risk and not die, now what could be better than that (except sex of course :D). Well isn't that sort of like sex in a way? Sleeping with the sheriffs daughter, and he is known to be trigger happy. Or sleeping with anyone, even someone you have been with for a long time, protection helps, but it isn't 100%, I guess that is why people get tested with their partners.

How the hell did I go from rocking climbing to sex? Maybe they can be done at the same time? :D Frogs do it haha.

Awesome, isn't it? :D I've been climbing 1-3 times a week for the past year and a half. I needed some sort of physical exercise after getting out of the military, and it is exactly what I needed. How big is this wall, and do they change the routes often?

There are 6 climbing ropes with about 6 feet of variance in each section without hitting another. The walls go up about 3 stories. Also the walls seem to be detachable, so I am sure they can be moved around, which would be cool, but since I only started this week, I don't know if they do change it.

The only complaint I have is that the easy routes are on the outside, I don't like the outside, it makes me nervous for some reason. Though I feel completely comfortable climbing the much harder middle even though it is so hard I have yet to make it to the top. I do feel it would be cool if the wall went around to meet up with itself, circular or rectangular. There is also a bouldering wall, which is fun, because of the skill required on it, and there is an almost upside down part which I will have to ask about today.

I've always loved climbing anything. I haven't been able to afford access to a climbing wall yet until lately, (and then it hasn't entered my mind,) but I do practice parkour, which is just as good. No people telling you how to do it, no special equipment, just yourself and the obstacles/mental blocks. But climbing is still my favorite, although I've never found anyone who loves it as much as I do, or is as good as I am for that matter. I bet it's an intp thing. You've inspired me to look into gym memberships now.

Yeah, love those things. I just don't have many places around here to do it:slashnew:

Just a thought; but I wonder if it's an INTP thing to be drawn to more solitary sports?

I love climbing walls, but I'll rather read a book about them. that's no contradiction.
