And High scores in:
- repression/suppression
- compensation
- intellectualisation

So not great, but not terrible. When I look at these defense mechanisms I see a very narrow view of the world, however. For example, it's not really reflective of bias that there are a lot of people that would want to be in my whitemaleprivelege position. I may just not like being catcalled for attention from every whore in a quartermile. I might actually have a poor memory for names and faces because I have a poor memory.

I mean, I understand it's all statistical, but it still gets under my skin. These tests aren't supposed to be used to tell you anything useful about yourself specifically, but that's how they're used throughout the internet. You need a far more watertight design than this to mitigate power lost by having a sample size of one.

Definitely a lot of sleep escapism for me, which is regression apparently. I agree it's not that great a test though. A lot of the statements could be agreed with reasonably, not as a result of bias. (Well, that's what I think.) I'm not sure where each category gets their score from. Denial for instance seems to be based partly in evidence of positivity. But being able to see a positive side in everything doesn't mean things don't still suck. Plus, I'm not sure how well it can measure regression (escapism). What if you're a massive escapist but only use one method of doing it? The test, which asks about all sorts of different ways to escape, seems to add up all positive answers and assume that's the intensity of your escapism. It'd be better to keep each method separate and rate it on its own scale to get a gauge for intensity.

Also, where do the positive self-esteem statements go? What if you're just honest and recognise you have a lot of advantages in life that millions of people in less-developed countries don't? "Many people would want to be me" then becomes true in a much greater sense and has nothing to do with delusion in either direction because the scope of comparison is wider than most people are used to thinking in. Though it might be somewhat correlated with the scores on hating whiny people.

Repression is right, unsure about projection. I think one of the reasons I struggled with chronic low self esteem was due to giving others more credibility and slack than I gave myself.

Maybe moving towards intellectualizion, but I consciously tried that a few times. I was insulted by a rude co-worker once, but trying to give her more negative traits, painting her as a bad guy in my mind or thinking of it as a unimportant detail didn't really change how shitty I felt.
