I didn't even post a link this time.

Weird. I didn't even try to link to the site I'm rebuilding. And it didn't tell me I was awaiting moderation when I posted it.

Guess I'll get replies from other venues earlier.
It was my post that was moderated, but you probably saw the thread after the post was approved.

Ahhhh. Ok. Thanks for clarifying that. I was worried that I wouldn't know if a post wasn't visible... and if providing links is a problem. I'm often asked for links showing my opinions aren't strange creations of my imagination.

Apparently tons of external links alerts the system, but it seems so random.

Are you? Or is that just a strange creation of your imagination? :phear: :p

Do mods get a notice when there is something that must be approved?

Well yes usually there is a little symbol on the thread indicating a post needs to be approved, but there isn't any message sent to us to immediately grab our attention or anything. We either have to see the thread or check a tab in the Mod CP about posts awaiting moderator approval.

It is obviously the fingerprint of a mysterious, random, rather capricious God.

All done out of love, of course.

The best way to hate/kill is with love.

Reminds me of the end of Seasons of Mist (Sandman) where the angels have taken over the abandoned Hell and reinstituted punishment of the damned.

Remiel (Angel): "There will be no more wanton violence; no further suffering, inflicted without reason or explanation. We will hurt you. And we are not sorry. But we do not do it to punish you. We do it to redeem you. Because afterward, you'll be a better person … and because we love you. One day you'll thank us for it."

[Flies off serenely]

Damned Soul: "But you don't understand … that makes it worse. That makes it so much worse … "

Poor static souls. :cat:

Well, yes... but people choose their own hells.

What is the devil, that he seeks to trade in souls anyway? What is a soul worth? Can you buy something with it? What value does it even have? Why would anyone want another's soul? Who wants to lord over a torture chamber populated by self-castigating masochists seeking flagellation for their own determined misdeeds?

There should be some indication whether I can post normally or I would be auto sent to moderation.

I would most likely compose a post more broadly if I knew it will be posted some time later.

Excuse my double posting. I find it relevant:
Good indication when we will be put under spam supervision:
Posting 6 or more links at once - happened twice to me

Spam filter that requires mod approval seems to last 24 hours

Mod approved posts will be put by the time they were sent and may pass unnoticed

A good change would be to post such approved posts when they pass with comment that they were delayed and an appropriate date.

I will edit this information if i find it incorrect.

Watch out in future, good luck

Auto bot moderation

For some reason I get quite a few automatic moderation hits. This is when right after posting you get a screen telling you that your post has been put in the queue for moderation, this is a mechanism to try and prevent bot postings.

Is there a whitelist that members can be put on, or can the settings be changed? It's getting quite annoying, but I understand the need to reduce autobot posts

Re: Auto bot moderation

The crowning irony was that this OP got caught in the spam filter as well :D

I'm not seeing anything in your profile that would cause you to be targeted more than anyone else who randomly gets caught in the filter. Perhaps it's somehow caused by your text-to-speech app?

We have been having an unusually large number of spam bots lately that get caught in the filter lately. Maybe it's just on red alert.

Nope, it happens on every post now, from the iPad to the desktop.

Do you have a dynamic IP? I have noticed that certain IP adresses increase the chance of the spam filter blocking. I cannot post normally from some German IP's for that matter.

It could be that the filter is picking up common spam words in your posts about programming and computers, etc. As the spam filter has become sensitized to you as a user it may be now be a little bit over-excited. Once you have a few more posts without these trigger words and links, the filter may start trusting you again. Perhaps try that for a while.

As far as I know vB, the only way around it is for moderators to approve individual posts...other than that I don't know. I know it's a pain, sorry. Fukyo might know more though, so if the first method isn't working check with her.

Given that I just had to approve some of your posts Architect, I take it that the problem is still persisting.

I've contacted tech support for the anti spam service the forum uses, since there is nothing on the level of the Admin CP itself that can be done, as far as I could see.

link for some more information on the process

Could it be that Archie and Blarraun just post a lot in condensed time frames?

Archie in the "Ask Architect" thread, where he has several hundred posts, many of which are close temporally, and Blarraun because... he posts a lot XD

The high density of posts in particular threads within short time intervals could cause the filter to select against certain users, perhaps.

Just a thought.

That's my suspicion. By now I'm a frequent poster with a high post count, I wonder if the stupid algorithm is taking that into account. But if true then somehow it is forgetting that I'm actually a logged in member. Spam fake accounts are banned, so it should allow all posts from all accounts in good standing. Mods, please check this setting if there is one.

I'm sure this post will be put into the moderator queue too ...

Is there a rhyme or reason for this? I just had a post delayed for moderation, but with no explanation. There was nothing suspect in its content I'm aware of.

Sometimes posts with links can get caught in the spam filter. I just approved your post.

Re: Does everyone posts wait for approval ?

Your posts are triggering the forum's anti spam protection. This can happen because of posting too many links, something on your profile or due to the IP you're using to post. I looked up your IPs and they seemed suspicious, as though they were proxies.

Once you hit the 100th post mark you stop being subject to anti spam measures though.
