  • Free
  • Several hundred thousand of titles
  • Registration not required to download, but required to use the search function
  • As far as I can tell no download limit on the main site (the last time I downloaded), but the actual downloads are hosted on third party online storage sites, such as mediafire, megapload and file.it which requires a captcha identification if you download several times in rapid succession from the same IP.
  • Seems to be mostly non-fiction.
  • Some titles are in foreign languages

Oh, I didn't post immediately, but I now feel the need to tell you: this site is wonderfulz!!!

Seriously (srsly?), that one link has probably made all the hours I've spent on this forum worthwhile (even if they weren't already).

Of course, I wished they provided functionality for downloading tons of books at once, instead of one at a time, and the Captchas are annoying, and sometimes the links don't work, but they have tons of obscure and expensive books that don't seem to be available on the usual bittorrent sites. This place really is a gold mine. Here's my current score (note: one of these I'd already bought for a ridiculously excessive amount of money):

And you have been, but now they also know that you are trying to construct a doomsday device powered by a nuclear reactor that hold the world hostage by controlling the oceanic currents. And design video games.

I'm on to you, you sneaky bastard.

Oh sweet, thanks. There are actually books on here I've wanted, but didn't want to pay the outrageous prices for them.

Probably the site I've loved and admired the most...

Maybe you already read this:

And also ...its back but is not the same, so its a real shame.

Thanks for that book fi link, been there since library left us... :phear:

PS
I have some ebooks if someone is interested.

Similar to Google Scholar, but with more open access publications.

PMC is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM)

After exactly a year of inactivity... :smoker:

I'm not entirely sure whether any of this was posted previously, but curious and cheap minds of INTPf, here you go:

http://lib.freescienceengineering.org/

Online resources:

The /sci/ guide 4chan isn't all /b/ and memes

Reference websites at Physics forums contains some interesting online resources such as this (This contains many links to websites providing audio/video courses and lectures in biology and biological engineering from educational institutions around the world. The courses and lectures include the fundamental principles of biochemistry, genetics, general biology, human anatomy, microbiology, molecular biology, neurobiology, and cell biology.)

Information is beautiful.net - ideas, issues, knowledge, data — visualized! not that it's exactly on topic :cthulhu:

Consc.net - Online papers on consciousness

This is a directory of 7734 free online papers on consciousness in philosophy and in science, and of related topics in the philosophy of mind. The papers in this directory are drawn from PhilPapers, a database of both online and offline works in philosophy.

Forgot where exactly I got it from but remember bookmarking it.

Bookboon
http://bookboon.com/en/textbooks-ebooks

Bookboon's free online textbooks for students are focused and to the point. They are all written by highly respected professors from top universities in the world and cover topics such as economics, statistics, IT, engineering and natural science.

It's basically the free equivalent of common textbooks required for college courses. The catch is embedded ads, but you can just scroll pass them.

best site for free ebooks

guys what site do you know has the biggest database of free ebooks that can be easily downloaded or read online? please suggest any. it will be helpful since our type are one of the most likely to be book-people. for additional information, if you want a site with large database of movies, even latest ones, I recommend genvideos.org . its a good site where you can readily and easily stream old and new movies. and if you want to download it using 'internet download manager' app which can be easily found through google and downloaded for free.

Re: best site for free ebooks

Some of the more obvious ones:
The internet archive
Great collection of books, sites and content from these sites, very useful, saved/improved my day multiple times
Project Gutenberg
Great for post-copyrighted content
Libivox
One with free audiobooks, it has many languages, I use it for listening/learning languages, but it could be used just for listening to books.

Re: best site for free ebooks

www.Fanfiction.net
Obviously fanfiction, I love the search on this site and fictionpress. My absolute favourite.
www.Fictionpress.com
Some really nice books here.
www.royalroadl.com/fictions/best-rated/
I love this site, a lot of reincarnation /VR stories here.
www.Wattpad.com
I don't use it personally since I dislike the layout but it has a big selection.
www.baka-tsuki.org/project/?title=Main_Page
Light novels Japanese style
www.archiveofourown.org/
Also fanfiction with less restrictions but also less amount, worse search than fanfition.net

Try bookos-z1.org. You're gonna have to register though. Been downloading ebooks from there since 2014. They have a lot of stuff. Academic, fiction etc. Use their Tor server to get access to more books. (you'll see it when you get there)
