Who of you wears glasses/lenses? Does anyone here has 'perfect' eyes? I myself have a very slight focal defect, and only recently got glasses.

I have worn glasses for eight years. My eyesight has grown steadily worse as time has passed. Yet, they have become a part of my style. Should I ever get laser eye surgery, I will probably place fake lenses in my glasses just to maintain the look of false erudition.

I've worn glasses for...12-13 years now, since I was in 3rd grade I believe.

Then.....why get laser eye surgery?

Personally, I don't mind wearing contacts/glasses, but I'll probably get laser eye surgery because I never wanna deal with both near and far sightedness at the same time.

I have had perfect 20/20 my entire life so I can't validate if this is true or not, but there is a school of thought that teaches the eyes are muscle and can be made stronger through various exercises.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlYqVkta_18

It looks a bit silly but try to keep an open mind.
Also eye glasses make your vision worse, similar to a back brace weakening your back.
If anyone has read Born to Run (humbly suggest you do) its the same principle.

Or just wait for :borg: robot eyes.

No I don't. Usually some cheap big sunglasses. But I can't read a car sign plate only some few meters in front. It's all rather blurry. In addition I see strange colors. I fail all tests, so either it's super good, or super bad. Still, I have no wish to see more, I feel I see way too much already. I've found my mind focuses on shape and form. So I could become a different person if I saw things more direct and concrete.

I wear glasses. I recently had cataract surgery and now have 20/15 in my left eye; my right eye is set for computer distance. If I had to do it over, I'd set my right eye for reading instead. Am very pleased with the surgery as was near-sighted prior.

Wearing glasses outdoors is optional but I like the eye protection including ultra-violet.

I have 20/10 vision hence my nickname (at least I think it's 20/10; I can read the bottom line of the eye chart).

When I was younger I used to frequently relax the focus of my eyes creating 100% blurred vision. At the time I thought of it as exercising my eyes.

It's done me no harm so far. :)

20/10 as well.

Bolded part: That's weird because I used to do that all the time, I wonder if that could be correlated to good vision, is an exercise that can improve it or is something people with good vision are capable of. Or just one of those things like curling your tongue that some people can do and others can't.

Some people I know can't do it and don't know what I mean - makes me want to categorize them all and find out which of them have pre-existing vision problems to see if there's a connection between good eyesight and being able to purposefully change the focus of your vision.

Do you mean to just focus on a point elsewhere. very easy. Just look slightly towards the nose, then draw the focus point inwards, and it's all seriously blurry. Sometimes this happen if I relax.

It's also strange, I've tried glasses that make me see very clear. But when I take them off, everything is very very blurry. Without glasses the mind adjust the vision more. Look much at the computer or read, and one become more near sighted. Spend long days observing the skies and the horizon, and vision becomes more far sighted again.

Interesting. My friends are similar in that some can do it and others can't. Although one of my friends has bad eyes as it is and his response was "Dude... I can't make my vision any more blurred!"

I mean completely unfocus; everything you look at is blurred whether it be up close or far away.

Unfocus? The normal human eye will focus from 7cm to infinity. It just depends what distance it is set and where it is pointed. Right?

I actually have better than 20/20, but I don't remember how the numbers work. I think it's 20/10? Oddly, my brother and I are the only two people in my family with good vision. I'm curious how we beat the odds like that.

I have perfect eyesight but partial colour deficiency, which is worse because it can't be cured.

Is my eyesight still considered perfect? *muses*

I have pretty poor eyesight (something like 20/80 or 20/100), but I wear glasses which correct my sight to 20/20. My right eye is better than my left (although I am left-handed). I've had glasses since I was nine.

I am trying to start wearing contacts, but my eyes are very sensitive, and it has proven very difficult for me. Any advice?

According to the wiki, myopia is associated with higher levels of
education and intelligence.

I was near-sighted.

I tried contacts during college and due to my allergies, they just didn't work so well for me.

Finally in 2005 I went ahead and got LASIK. I researched the hell of the local doctors to find the one with the best track record and went there. I had a small blip coming out -- it felt like I had a grain of sand in my right eye bad enough to make me cry, and I just threw a coat over my head to hide from the light and went home and straight to bed for the night, and the next day the pain was gone -- but other than that (and the minor annoyance of the night-time starburst effect around lights, which I quickly got used to), I've been extremely happy with the results. My eyesight during the day is far better than it ever was with corrective lenses., everything's crystal clear.

Both of my parents are near-sighted, my sister is near-sighted, and one of my two bio kids is near-sighted.

I wear contact lenses when I'm drinking in public, to offset the beer goggle effect.

Anyway I broke my glasses and ran out of contacts 18 months ago or so, and put it on the "tomorrow" list. Needless to say, I still haven't got any.

Anyway, something odd is happening - my eyes are getting better. Much better. Despite having had vision correction for about 20 years, I can now see things very clearly (ie individual leaves on trees 100m away) and passed my drivers license test without contacts. The lady at the counter looked very confused, because it said "wears glasses" on the old license and yet I passed the test Cocoon style.

To be honest, I did memorize the test letters while waiting in line, but didn't cheat, I swear :D

Thanks to @just george i will never need glasses as i have just gouged out my own eyes to stop the horror.

Actually was prescribed glasses (which i felt i didn't need) at age 13 or so...they never left my school bag. My eyesight is more or less the same, perhaps slightly better, 20+yrs later.

I've always been able to do this too...and haven't had any vision problems either. Now that I'm myopic I can still do it, but it has always made my eyeballs feel a little weird and sore, so I avoid doing it because I fear it could damage my eyes.

I wear glasses as well. Used to have contact lenses for a while, but I kept forgetting to actually wear them. Glasses are harder to forget.

Watt? I thought blurring my sight and changing degree of bluriness is a normal ability. o_0 I used to do lots of things with my eyes. My eye is not too great though.

After meditation I can also percieve the vibration of everything.

And in past after meditation I can perceive strange colors and stuff.

I will train again. Lots of information is filtered by the evil subcosncious mind.
The unconscious mind needs to know who is the boss!

They said I had 'slight' power in the eyes.
I don't know much.
But I don't need glasses or anything and my eyes works pretty nice.
